This is a good story and I enjoyed it. Two families have been feuding over land. It seems everyone is really over it except for the grandfather and his granddaughter. She feels the other family took the land by cheating her grandfather. It didn't really happen that way and she has to accept that fact. The son of the family that owns the land is the hero. he is a neat guy with a level head. Seeing the heroine swimming naked in one of his ponds, he falls for her. She is very attracted but feels guilt for lusting after the enemy.There is a big race coming up and she intends to win it and help her grandfather restore some of his pride. however, her horse has a problem that could get her disqualified. But, she pushes on and the day of the race she is winning when something happens that makes her make a big choice.
The two of them go back and forth with their romance. It is a good read and I definitely recommend it.

An interesting story with a Spanish flare. I suspect it gave me a look into the old ways of California AMD ranching days.
This was a good HEA. Just not what I would like to read all the time. This was too sweet for my taste. Not enough angst and no twists in the road to love. I have read other books by Helen Conrad and will again.
Loved this story about young love overcoming all obstacles.What I really loved was the heroines love and devotion for her grandfather.She got her hero's heart and her grandfather got to stay where his heart was.Book was well written written and edited.Beautiful love story and wasn't't full of unreal sex scenes like so many books these days.I wouldn't'mind my oldest GRANDS reading it.Lovely!!!!!
I could feel Shawnee's exhilaration of the cool stream on a hot California day. And the astonishment at the sudden appearance of the shockingly handsome David. Then the plot thickens with a "Martin's and McCoy's" situation. I liked learning some about early California, too. It is a page turner nicely done and enough romance without pornographic scenes
Native Silver is the name on young woman's horse. She returns home to help her aging grandfather and discovers that the neighbor is going to take his last piece of his farm away from him due to his lease being up. Granddaughter is going to win the annual horse show and take the crown away from the neighbor who is a constant winner. Needs to do this for the grandpa's piece of mind. Good book and read the Part 1 and finish up with this book about the Carrington's and Santiago families.
A girl and her precious horse...end of story. That's all I needed to grab this book. But the gal is in a race to win back the land that was "stolen" from her grandfather years ago. Can she win the Californio race with her blind horse? Will she be disqualified before the race is started?
It's also a love/hate relationship with the "thief" who stole her grandfather's land.

I loved reading Native Silver (Destiny Bay Romances - The Ranchers), all about David Santiago & Shawnee Carrington who met at the watering hole on Rancho Verde when Shawnee was trespassing on Santiago property her first day back in town. Shawnee had just removed all her clothes and jumped in the swimming hole to cool off, she came up with a sputter and standing right in front of her was a gorgeous man who was just staring at her. She would recognize this guy anywhere, but she did not expect to find him at her secret swimming hole, even though it was on his property, because truth be told nobody ever went swimming here but her, her entire life. Basically the only way in was on horse-back, and most people never rode this far in on the ranch, but now her illusion was shattered, and she knew she could never come here again! The author wrote a very interesting story, and the characters totally sold the story. Read this book it will make you laugh, cry and sigh a lot! It's about to warring families who each believe something different, but one truth that the land was stollen away from Jim Carrington more then forty years ago, and all he was left with was a twenty-acre plot to live out his days on. However, the deed says after forty-years the land reverts back to Santiago property and the Carrington's must find some other place to live! Shawnee has come home to take are of her senile grand-father Jim, and she is unaware of the twenty-acres not belonging to him, and is unable to find any documentation, however David has proof! Read this book, I was unable to put it down, and can't wait to start reading book 2! Enjoy reading it.
